Food and Agricultural Waste Recycling

Food and Agricultural Waste Recycling Photo

Agricultural waste sources are mainly from agro-based industries like rubber, palm oil and other such processing outlets along with its one of the big contributor i.e livestock waste. Pig farms also add huge amount of wastes which sometimes pollute the rivers and estuaries as the effluents are discharged directly into these water bodies. On the other hand food is one of the basic requirements for survival of living beings & wasting of food is not at all desirable and so we should minimise the wastage of food along with developing a proper food waste management system. We should follow four strategies:

Prevent and reduce the generation of food waste at its source

Redistribution of extra/ unsold food

Recycling / treatment of the food wastes

Recovering energy
